THE COLLECTOR (2009): Much has been made online about how stupid and illogical this slasher/torture porn hybrid from first-time director Marcus Dunston is. And it is... but... I liked the energy and balls-out swagger of it. It's not a *cynical* nasty, hateful, cheap torture porn movie, it's a nasty, hateful cheap torture porn movie made by obvious fans who seem like they were having a giddy fun time making a nasty, hateful cheap torture porn movie. Not perfect, not great, and strictly for fans of extreme horror, but I liked it.

TOKYO GORE POLICE (2008): Imagine if early David Croenberg made a Troma film. It's as simple as that. I don't want to overpraise this (It's great goofball fun but not brilliant), but this hit a sweet spot for me of inspired weirdness and off-kilter fetishism.
